It's So Huge! Take a Look at Mariah Carey's 35-Carat Engagement Ring
Celebrity

The '#Beautiful' singer flashes her huge new bling when stepping out with new fiance James Packer after their engagement in NYC.

AceShowbiz - Mariah Carey has a new sparkler on her ring finger and she showed it off when stepping out with her billionaire boyfriend James Packer. The 35-carat diamond ring is also an indirect confirmation that she has been engaged to the Australian businessman, which was first reported on Thursday, January 21.

In a video obtained by TMZ, the couple was all smiles when leaving a building. They remained mum when paparazzi congratulated them on their engagement, but Mariah let cameramen and photographers take a close look at her new ring.

The eye-popping bauble was designed by Wilfredo Rosado, who is also Mariah's friend. It features a massive emerald-cut diamond, flanked by two tapered baguettes and finished in a platinum setting.

"I took the standards super high, and I wanted to create a ring that could not be measured up to," Wilfredo tells Vogue. The design and construction took two weeks. Wilfredo shares, "What is really most interesting about the ring are the proportions-the stone is so large, but we were able to create a beautiful balance with the overall simplicity of the design. It was about mixing simplicity with volume, which is very difficult to do."

He adds, "I really wanted to create something for her that was about new beginnings. I wanted to give her something super sophisticated and something that took away all of the embellishments that a lot of people use when they design engagement rings these days. But it is epic. It's an epic ring for an epic time in her life."

The whopping 35-carat center stone is almost twice bigger than Beyonce Knowles' 18-carat diamond, so you can imagine how heavy it is.

James reportedly popped the question in front of Mariah's close friends during a private dinner at Eleven Madison Park, NYC. They're engaged after dating for eight months.
