The '45 Years' actress disagrees with the calls for boycott against the Academy Awards, which arose due to its all-white nominees.

AceShowbiz - Charlotte Rampling scoffed at the controversy surrounding the lack of diversity in the nominations list of the 2016 Academy Awards. The Oscars' Best Actress nominee didn't hold back as she slammed the boycott against the awards show, "It is racist to whites."

"You can never know if it's truly the case, but maybe black actors did not deserve to make the final stretch," Rampling said on French's Europe 1 radio. She also seemed to think that implementing a quota system to ensure diversity was not really necessary.

"Why classify people? These days we live in countries now where everyone is more or less accepted," she said. "People will always say: 'Him, he's less handsome;' 'Him, he's too black;' 'He is too white.' Someone will be saying 'You are too' [this or that]. But are we going to classify this so there should be thousands of minorities everywhere?"

The 69-year-old actress is nominated for her role in a drama called "45 Years". "Being named for the awards, that's undeniably, already a victory," she said. "You've entered into a private circle, very select, the great film club that is the Oscars academy."

Charlotte Rampling landed in water over her comments on the Oscar diversity issue. Piers Morgan slammed her on Twitter with scathing remarks, "MISSING: a set of marbles. If found, please return to Charlotte Rampling."
