'X-Men: Apocalypse' director Bryan Singer and screenwriter/producer Simon Kinberg hint at the possibility of 'The Dark Phoenix Saga' getting its own movie.

AceShowbiz - "X-Men: Apocalypse" director Bryan Singer hinted that the sequel to "X-Men: Days of Future Past" would feature "The Dark Phoenix Saga" and might set the stage for its movie. In a recent interview with IGN, the 50-year-old filmmaker admitted that he wanted to do "the full Phoenix story."

Bryan admitted he wanted to re-explore the Phoenix in a movie as he found that "the idea of that brewing within her" absolutely interested him. Furthermore, he hinted that moviegoers "may find a piece of [the Phoenix] in ['Apocalypse']."

As previously reported, Bryan had a vision for "The Dark Phoenix Saga" in "X-Men: The Last Stand". However, that storyline was changed as he decided to direct "Superman Returns" and left the project to Brett Ratner.

In a separate interview, "Apocalypse" screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg said that "The Dark Phoenix Saga" movie was possible. "I think everything that hasn't been told from ['X-Men: First Class'] and 'Future Past' is up for grabs going forward, so it would absolutely be a story we could tell in a different way," Simon explained.

Like Bryan, Simon hinted that it would appear in "Apocalypse". "We definitely explore how powerful [Jean Grey] is in this movie, and that can be something that is empowering and something that is dangerous," said Simon.

"The Dark Phoenix Saga" focuses on Jean Grey who becomes one of the most powerful beings in the universe after she's possessed by a fiery cosmic bird which embodies the concept of life and death. The story centers around her struggle to control that power and her eventual fall to evil, making her the Dark Phoenix.
