The former 4 Non Blondes singer initially thought GaGa did not deserve a nomination for writing 'The Hunting Ground' soundtrack 'Till It Happens to You'.

AceShowbiz - Linda Perry immediately regrets her comments about Lady GaGa not deserving an Oscar for writing "Till It Happens to You". In a series of tweets, the famed songwriter apologizes for thinking GaGa did not write enough of the song to be worthy of the nomination.

Perry's controversial tweets on Monday, January 18 expressed her opinion of "The Hunting Ground" soundtrack. "Normally I wouldn't respond to all this but I don't know Im feeling spunky. There was another artist that originally was gonna sing #TIHTY," she wrote. Perry said Diane Warren penned the track and GaGa only changed one line from "till you got a hole ripped in your soul" to "till you're at the end, the end of your rope."

Perry added, "So I guess technically one line was changed so sure Gaga possibly 'rewrote' a line. But chances are Diane still took part in rewriting that line which means Gaga contributed a few words. Is that writing? Not in my book."

The songwriter emphasized that she meant no disrespect and was only "stating the truth." She said, "I love Gaga so much respect and love this song that has nothing to do with anything. Why did Gaga get credit? Maybe because ... Diane wanted to ensure her support in promoting the song. GaGa is a very smart business women she knew a song written by Diane Warren ...would be up for an Oscar..."

Perry's intention to "ruffle some feathers once in a while" backfired after she received criticisms mainly from GaGa's fans. She tweeted, "My sincere apologies. I made a mistake to comment. I wasn't in the room when ['Til It Happens to You'] was being written. More importantly, I wish the focus to remain on the great importance of the song and the message of the film."
