The host of the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards refuses to apologize for his controversial jokes that sparked transphobic accusations against him.

AceShowbiz - Ricky Gervais just shrugged off the backlash he got for taking a dig at Caitlyn Jenner at the Golden Globe Awards over the weekend. "Suggesting a joke about Caitlin Jenner is automatically transphobic is like suggesting a joke about Bill Cosby is automatically racist," he tweeted.

The comedian previously said during his monologue at the star-studded event. "I've changed. Not as much as Bruce Jenner, obviously - now Caitlyn Jenner, of course," the funnyman quipped.

"What a year she's had. She became a role model for trans people everywhere, showing great bravery in breaking down barriers and destroying stereotypes," the host went on to praise the reality star before taking a jab at her over the fatal car accident that involved her. "She didn't do a lot for women drivers, but you can't have everything, can ya?"

In a series of defiant tweets after the show, Gervais wrote, "In the future, everyone will be offended by me for 15 minutes. You have every right to be offended. Just don't cry when no one cares."

"Hosting The Globes has made me want to do a new stand up show next year. Now THAT'S when you're allowed to be offended. You whiney c*nts :)," he added. "Do people not realise that when they say they are offended by a joke it makes that joke even funnier for the rest of us."
