People's Choice Awards 2016: 'Big Bang Theory' and 'Outlander' Among TV Winners

'The Big Bang Theory' is the biggest TV winner with three nods, while 'Outlander', 'Grey's Anatomy' and 'Castle' nab two trophies each.

AceShowbiz - Being a top-rated comedy, "The Big Bang Theory" has unsurprisingly been named Favorite TV Show at the recently concluded People's Choice Awards. The CBS sitcom won the coveted title over other strong contenders, including "Game of Thrones", "Grey's Anatomy", "The Voice" and "The Walking Dead".

"Big Bang Theory" also beat "2 Broke Girls", "Mike & Molly", "Modern Family" and "New Girl" to be Favorite Network TV Comedy. One of the show's leads, Jim Parsons, was additionally chosen as Favorite Comedic TV Actor.

"Mike & Molly" star Melissa McCarthy won the Favorite Comedic TV Actress title, in addition to scoring the trophy in Favorite Comedic Movie Actress category.

Losing the Favorite TV Show title to "Big Bang Theory", "Grey's Anatomy" and "The Voice" didn't come home empty handed. The medical drama won two awards for Favorite Network TV Drama and Favorite Dramatic TV Actress (Ellen Pompeo). "The Voice", meanwhile, was named Favorite Competition TV Show.

"Outlander" and "Castle" were the other TV shows which took multiple prizes. The former won Favorite Cable TV Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show and Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress for Caitriona Balfe. As for "Castle", it paired Favorite TV Crime Drama Actor and Actress trophies with Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic's wins in respective category.

Ellen DeGeneres was honored with Humanitarian Award. The Wednesday, January 6 ceremony hosted by Jane Lynch also handed out prizes for fans' favorite in movie, music and digital categories.
