'Assassin's Creed' New Photos Show Michael Fassbender Playing Dual Role
Movie

One of the photos shows Fassbender playing Callum Lynch in the modern day, while the other one features the actor portraying Lynchs' ancestor Aguilar in the past.

AceShowbiz - Following the first official image of "Assassin's Creed", 20th Century Fox has released two other photos, putting the spotlight on Michael Fassbender's Callum Lynch, the equivalent of the video game's protagonist Desmond Miles. Debuted via Empire, the two images feature two different timelines: past and present day.

The first image shows Fassbender as Lynch's ancestor Aguilar bravely swinging his sword as he fights against enemies in a battlefield. Meanwhile, the second one sees Lynch, in the modern day, wearing all-white outfit as he sits inside a prison and talks to a priest.

"Assassin's Creed" reteams Fassbender with his "Macbeth" co-star Marion Cotillard and director Justin Kurzel. The movie centers on Lynch, who uses a revolutionary technology called Animus to access his genetic memories, allowing him to relive the adventures of his ancestor Aguilar, a member of a secret ancient society of assassins who have been battling the Knights Templar for centuries. Using knowledge and skills he acquired in the past, Lynch will continue the work of his ancestor to combat the powerful Templar organization in present day.

Joining Fassbender and Cotillard in the cast are Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, Ariane Labed and Michael K. Williams. The video game adaptation is set to hit U.S. theaters on December 21, 2016.
