The 38-year-old actor stars as Callum Lynch, who travels back in time through a revolutionary genetic technology called Animus to experience the adventures of his ancestor Aguilar.

AceShowbiz - The first official image of video game adaptation "Assassin's Creed" has surfaced online. The picture features lead actor Michael Fassbender in his hooded assassin costume alongside co-star Ariane Labed. The two are seen lying on a rooftop while throwing a sharp gaze on a certain point.

Fassbender stars both as Callum Lynch and the character's ancestor Aguilar. In the film, Lynch uses a revolutionary genetic technology called Animus to travel back in time and live as Aguilar, an assassin from a secret order that's been battling the Knights Templar for centuries. Lynch must use the skills he acquires in the past to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day. As for Labed, her role is still undisclosed.

Fassbender admitted recently that he hadn't played the game before he was offered the job. "I hadn't played it before these guys approached me," Fassbender told EW. "I've played it since mainly to get an idea of the physicality of the character."

Though so, the "Steve Jobs" actor promised something special for the video game's fans. "We're striving to find something special. We believe the whole concept around it is special and want to service that the best we can. The fans are really passionate: very specific and they expect accuracy and historical detail," he said. "We're really trying to capitalize and feed on and enjoy the fun element. We're working hard to make this something special."

The movie also stars Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson and Michael K. Williams. Directed by Justin Kurzel, the video games adaptation is scheduled to open in the U.S. on December 21, 2016.
