Artist of the Week: Chris Brown

Breezy embraces his new role as a dad and reflects on mistakes he made in the past on his new album 'Royalty'.

AceShowbiz - Fatherhood surprisingly fits Chris Brown perfectly. Ever since he welcomed Royalty, whom he secretly fathered with former model Nia Guzman, the singer's life has changed for the better. Though the little girl's arrival caused another breakup with his on-and-off girlfriend Karrueche Tran, the now-1.5-year-old was the reason fans got his latest album.

The new project aptly titled "Royalty" marked Breezy's seventh studio effort and his second full-length since he put out "Fan of a Fan: The Album" with frequent collaborator Tyga earlier this year.

"It's a reflections album. I love being a father, you know, and at the same time, there were certain wrongs and certain rights that I did do. I might've hurt some people along the way," he explained the record in an interview for the latest edition of Notion magazine which he covered. "In this album, people can honestly understand who I'm trying to be, as a man, not who I am. Life is knowledge, trying to define the higher or the next level of consciousness."

Of his past mistakes, he admitted, "I didn't have a great time... at all, but it was a great lesson for me to learn. I thank God he had something bigger for me to do. The mindset I was in when I was younger, it was full of arrogance like, 'Yeah I'm an a**hole like, so what f**k it, I got money like,' and you know, at the end of the day everybody knows right from wrong."

"Royalty" came out on December 18. For every copy sold, the Virginia native will donate $1 to Children's Miracle Network, a nonprofit organization that raises funds for pediatric hospitals, medical research and awareness of children's health issues.
