TV

In the winter finale of the CBS legal drama, Eli just revealed a bad deed in the past that could have changed Alicia's life the other way around.

AceShowbiz - As if all his scheming actions were not enough reasons for Alicia to cut ties with him, Eli has apparently kept a secret about a thing that could've changed everything for Alicia. In "The Good Wife" winter finale, Eli came clean about this secret as he realized that he was wrong.

In the December 13 outing called "KSR", Ruth asked Courtney (Vanessa Williams) to hire Jason (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) away from Alicia to get him out of town. Courtney, who was confirmed to be an item with Eli, did it because she thought that's what Eli wanted. Jason couldn't turn down the money and told Alicia that he was off for two months and said he understood if he didn't get his job back when he returns.

Eli met Alicia at her office to discuss Jackie and Howard's relationship, while his true intention was to find Jason's "gift" for Alicia. Alicia said she didn't care about Jackie and Howard and she wanted him out of her business or her life. She also thought that he's behind Jason's departure, though Eli tried to convince her that it's Ruth's plan.

Then it came a heartbreaking moment for Eli, when he learned that Courtney had to go back to her home in the Bay Area for a year to pursue her true passion, her job. Eli broke down in tears in the hotel hallway.

After listening to a goodbye message from Courtney, a sad Eli came to Alicia's apartment. She let him in and had drinks. He opened up that he cared about Courtney and insisted that he didn't know about Jason leaving the town.

He then urged Alicia to call Jason. "I don't know why I'm tell you this, Alicia, but I want you to be happy. Call Jason," he said. When she said that Jason's just her private investigator, he dropped the bombshell. Eli admitted that six years ago when she was about to join Peter on stage during his campaign for State's Attorney, Eli was holding Alicia's cellphone and he heard a message for her from Will, who said he loved Alicia and would give up everything to be with her.

"I listened to the voicemail and I erased it," he said. "I never let you hear it, and I've been sick about it since. I never want to get in the way of your happiness again. And that's why I'm sorry." Holding back her emotion, Alicia told him, "Get out."

What does it mean for Alicia and Eli and what will Alicia do? Tune into the new episode that airs Sunday, January 10 at 9 P.M. on CBS to get the answer.
