The daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith wrote and produced almost all songs from the project, which came out on Friday, December 11 via Roc Nation.

AceShowbiz - After putting out numerous one-off singles and some EPs, Willow Smith finally released her debut album "Ardipithecus". The teen became the latest act to pull a Beyonce Knowles by dropping the project without prior notice on Friday, December 11 via Roc Nation.

The album includes 15 tracks which were mostly written and produced by Willow herself, though her brother Trey Smith and frequent collaborator JABS also appear in the credits. Trey a.k.a. AcE helped co-produce three songs while JABS is featured on two cuts.

Willow discussed the inspiration behind the record's title in a statement to The Fader. "Ardipithecus Ramidus is the scientific name of the first hominid bones found on earth. I wanted to name my musical compilation after it because, while I was making these songs I was in such a transitional state," she said.

"Digging deep in the soil of my heart and finding bits and pieces of my ancient self that tell stories, which end up being the lyrics to the songs. 'Ardipithecus' is my first album in my entire career and it makes me feel so blessed to be able to share my evolution with the LightEaters as I continue excavating my inner worlds."

"Ardipithecus" is now available for streaming on Spotify. You can also purchase it on iTunes.
