Who Cares? Gina Rodriguez Not Bothered by Golden Globes Confusing Her With America Ferrera

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association repeatedly mixed up both actresses when posting live updates from the announcement of the nominees.

AceShowbiz - Not even a mix-up can lessen Gina Rodriguez's excitement to be nominated for Best Actress in a TV Series - Comedy at the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association made a flub during the announcement of the nominees on Thursday morning, December 10 by mistaking her with America Ferrera, but the "Jane the Virgin" star made light of the issue.

The HFPA posted live updates during the announcement. One of the tweets read, "The @goldenglobes noms are about to start! @HereIsGina @ChloeGMoretz @ImAngelaBassett #DennisQuad #GoldenGlobes." @HereIsGina is Rodriguez's Twitter account, while The HFPA meant to refer to Ferrera who was one of the celebrity announcers. The tweet was later deleted, but many already noticed the mistake.

Speaking to ET Online, Rodriguez seemingly wasn't bothered by the mix-up. "I didn't hear anything until recently someone sent me an article, but who cares?" she responded. She went on praising her fellow Latina actress, "America's lovely. She's so beautiful and such a fantastic actress. If there's anybody I want to get mixed up with - it's her for sure! To me, it's like, whatever. We always make mix-ups in life, man."

Of being nominated again this year, Rodriguez said, "The Hollywood Foreign Press Association changed my life last year, like entirely. I don't feel like I could have ever have asked for any more. So this morning, when I heard my name called, I fell to the kitchen floor and started crying." She won a Golden Globe for the same category last year.

Meanwhile, the HFPA has issued an apology for the mix-up. "What occurred this morning was an unfortunate error," the agency said in a statement. "Our sincerest apologies to America and Gina."

Netflix leads the pack of TV nominees this year with eight nods. Ironically, NBC which will air the awards show live on January 10, 2016 gets zero nominations.
