Janet Jackson Leads Music Nominations at 2016 NAACP Image Awards

The singer, who just released her album 'Unbreakable' in October, receives six nominations at the 2016 NAACP Image Awards.

AceShowbiz - Nominees for the 47th annual NAACP Image Awards have been revealed. In music field, Janet Jackson leads among other musicians with six nominations, including two nominations for Outstanding Song - Contemporary.

Janet's collaboration with J. Cole in song "No Sleep" makes her nominated for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration, Outstanding Music Video and Outstanding Song - Contemporary. Her album "Unbreakable" which was just released in October is nominated for Outstanding Album while the singer herself is nominated for Outstanding Female Artist.

Trailing behind Janet are The Weeknd and "Empire" cast who receive four nominations apiece. As a newcomer, The Weeknd has made a great accomplishment with his album "Beauty Behind the Madness" nominated for Outstanding Album. His "Can't Feel My Face" music video is vying for Outstanding Music Video against Janet's "No Sleep". He himself is nominated for Outstanding New Artist and Outstanding Male Artist.

Meanwhile, the cast of "Empire" is nominated for Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration and Outstanding Album. Similar to Janet, they receive two nominations in the category of Outstanding Song - Contemporary.

In addition to music category, the nominees for other categories including TV and movie have been revealed. All winners will be unveiled during a two-hour ceremony which will be broadcast live on Friday, February 5, at 9 P.M. on TV One.
