The Grammy-winning singer credits John Luther Adams' composition for reminding her of going to a symphony with her grandmother.

AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift is all about philanthropy and preserving arts. The "Wildest Dreams" singer has donated $50,000 to the Seattle Symphony Orchestra on Thursday, December 4 as a token for fellow Grammy winner John Luther Adams.

Swift penned a letter to music director Ludovic Morlot, saying she was inspired by Adams' "Become Ocean" which reminded her of going to a local symphony with her grandmother. The Symphony commissioned the piece and performed it at Carnegie Hall in 2014 during Spring for Music Festival.

"I was thrilled to hear that Taylor was moved by 'Become Ocean'," Morlot said in a statement. "This is a powerful piece with a unique soundscape. We're especially thankful that she wishes to support our musicians, and that she shares our belief that all people should be able to experience symphonic music."

Swift's donation would go to a cause called "Link Up: Seattle Symphony" that works with elementary school students, and to bolster the musicians' pension fund.

Besides winning Grammys, the composition won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for music. Adams said in an email, "I'm delighted. Through her generosity and her open ears, Taylor Swift is inviting her fans to experience a new and different kind of music."
