Marvel Hires Female Writer for 'Thor 3'
Movie

Up and coming screenwriter Stephany Folsom is tapped to write the script of male-centric 'Thor: Ragnarok'.

AceShowbiz - A female writer has been hired to write a screenplay for "Thor: Ragnarok". Stephany Folsom, whose credit is Disney's "The Princess of North Sudan", is to revise the early draft written by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle.

With a new writer on board and Taika Waititi in position to direct the project, the third "Thor" installment is heading towards a fresh direction. Star Chris Hemsworth had hoped for a lighter storyline in the vein of "Guardians of the Galaxy". He told Cinema Blend last month, "I think [Thor 3] needs to be injected with that sort of smart wit and unexpected kind of humor, kind of what James Gunn came in and did with 'Guardians'. It was like off center and unpredictable, and I think we can definitely use a dose of that, you know?"

One thing for sure, the third movie will feature Hulk as Thor's ally. There's also a rumor that the film will present a major female villain and it could either be Amora the Enchantress or Hela, Queen of the Dead. "Thor: Ragnarok" is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on November 3, 2017.

Marvel has been hiring women writers for its male-oriented pics. Nicole Perlman worked with director James Gunn for the script of "Guardians of the Galaxy". Meg LeFauve was already tapped to write the upcoming "Captain Marvel". THR was the first to report on Folsom's involvement in third "Thor".
