AceShowbiz - Chris Hemsworth just shared a dramatic weight loss for his role in Ron Howard's "In the Heart of the Sea". The usually bulky actor looks gaunt and scruffy in a Twitter picture he posted on Sunday, November 22.

"Just tried a new diet/training program called 'Lost At Sea'. Wouldn't recommend it.. #IntheHeartoftheSea," Hemsworth captioned a shirtless photo of him in character. The 32-year-old actor had embarked on an intense 500-calorie a day diet ahead of the December 11 film.

Hemsworth, known for his role as Thor in Marvel films, had actually shed a few pounds for his role in Michael Mann's thriller "Blackhat". "When I started, I was leaner than my Thor weight, anyway, because I'd been on Michael's film. When you're already starting off lean, it's brutal to chew through that kind of weight. Every pound feels like a kilogram," he told EW in August.

Hemsworth stars as New England whaling ship Essex veteran first mate Owen Chase in "In the Heart of the Sea". The ship was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance.
