Ahead of her memoir release, the Grammy-winning singer revealed that Warren Beatty was only a small part of the song and that she was sexually abused at 7.

AceShowbiz - For unknown reason, Carly Simon decided to reveal the person who inspired her hit song "You're So Vain" after 44 years. The 70-year-old singer confirmed that the second verse of her famous song is about actor Warren Beatty.
"I have confirmed the second verse is Warren," Simon told PEOPLE when talking about her memoir "Boys in the Trees". She said only a small part of the song was about the actor but "Warren thinks the whole thing is about him!" Simon is not planning on telling who the rest of the song is about. "I don't think so. At least until they know it's about them," she told the magazine.
In the same interview, Simon opened up about a sexual abuse when she was only 7. She was molested by a family friend who was in his teens at that time. "It was heinous. It changed my view about sex for a long time," she said.
Simon confided in her older sisters but they did not believe her until she showed them an advance copy of "Boys in the Trees". She recalled, "Neither of them were at all aware of what had happened to me. I told them the first year that it was happening, and they thought I was just trying to be one of the bigger girls."
Her mother then found out about it and banned the boy from coming to their home. Simon was "devastated because I thought I was in a romance. Which I think happens to a lot of girls. Your libido overpowers everything! You're so libidinous even at the age of nine and ten. And sometimes there's an outlet there. I bet in many more cases than we know about there is."
She met a child psychologist but did not want to tell him much because she wanted the secret to last. "I knew I had to keep it quiet," Simon said. "I wanted to keep it quiet because I wanted to keep it going. And even when Dr. Frunzhaufer thought that he could get to the bottom of it with 'Twinkle twinkle little star,' I didn't want to tell him. I said, 'Yes he touched me on the chair. I was happy!' "
"Boys in the Trees", the same name for her 1978 album, will be published on November 24. "This book is my way of going back through my childhood, my music, my romances, my marriage ...and trying to make sense of it all," Simon said in a release. "I've been working on it for so long that it feels like my third child ... but now it's time to send that child out in the world. It's one of the most frightening -- and exciting -- things I've ever done."
