The collaboration with DJ Snake and MO has become the most-streamed song ever on the service with 526 million plays worldwide.

AceShowbiz - Move over, Ed Sheeran! Major Lazer has just just been honored with one of Spotify's prestigious titles thanks to their hit single "Lean On". The super catchy track is now the service's most-streamed song ever with around 526 million plays worldwide. The title previously belonged to Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud".

"Lean On" was released back in March and peaked at No. 4 on Billboard Hot 100. Featuring contributions from DJ Snake and Danish singer MO, it's lifted off Major Lazer's latest album "Peace Is the Mission", which came out in June and debuted at No. 12 on Billboard 200.

In a recent interview, Major Lazer's Diplo revealed that MO wasn't their first choice to sing on the dancey tune. The producer said that he first offered the track to Nicki Minaj and Rihanna, who ended up rejecting it. However, he wasn't disappointed at all with the final version with MO's vocals.

"[MO] sounds better than anybody was going to sound on that record. All we want to do is make the records feel like classics, even though they're feeling progressive and strange to a normal ear," he explained, and then called the situation "a blessing in disguise."
