Why Wasp Needs to Be a Focus in 'Ant-Man and the Wasp'
Movie

According to director Peyton Reed, the female heroine needs to be a focus in the upcoming movie because she worked well in 'Ant-Man'.

AceShowbiz - After appearing in next year's "Captain America: Civil War", Scott Lang will go on his own adventure in the sequel to "Ant-Man", "Ant-Man and the Wasp", in which he will be joined by Hope Van Dyne a.k.a. the Wasp. In a recent interview with Yahoo!, director Peyton Reed revealed the reason why the plan to put the female superhero as a central character might be a good idea.

"It just happened to be organic for the characters of 'Ant-Man and Wasp', [so] it worked," Reed said. "Her last line in the movie - 'It's about damn time' - [is] very much about her specific character and arc in that movie, but it is absolutely about a larger thing. It's about damn time: We're going to have a fully realized, very very complicated hero in the next movie who happens to be a woman," he added.

"Ant-Man and the Wasp" marks the first time that Marvel has put a superhero and a heroine in a movie title together and it's not surprising that the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) will be the focus of the upcoming movie. She had a big role in "Ant-Man". [SPOILER ALERT!] She helped Lang (Paul Rudd) get back his stolen suit and proved that she was also capable of using the shrinking costume herself. However, her father Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) didn't allow her to do that because he was afraid of losing her.

"Ant-Man and the Wasp" is scheduled to arrive in North America on July 6, 2018 while "Captain America: Civil War" will hit U.S. theaters on May 6, 2016.
