Stepping out for her first red carpet appearance after splitting from Olivier Martinez, the 'Extant' star shares a tip on going through 'any situation that you'd rather not be dealing with.'

AceShowbiz - Halle Berry has given an update on her condition following her split from husband Olivier Martinez. Met at the "Imagine" VIP cocktail party to benefit domestic violence prevention and intervention organization Jenesse Center, Inc. on Wednesday, November 4, the Oscar winner told "Extra", "I'm doing okay, I really am."

The 49-year-old beauty was indeed gleaming at her first red carpet appearance since announcing her divorce from her third husband two weeks ago. She added, "I, I keep pushing and I'm really happy to be here."

She went on sharing a tip on facing all the drama in her life. "Whenever you're going through anything in life, when you step outside yourself and focus on others, that's always the best remedy for any situation that you'd rather not be dealing with," she said.

Speaking about his kids, Halle said Nahla knew how strong her mom was. One-year-old Maceo, meanwhile, has been dealing with the chicken pox since Halloween. "Maceo didn't go trick-or-treating 'cause he has the chicken pox, Nahla was a zombie cheerleader, and we had a great time," she shared, adding, "I was a pirate and she (Nahla), she's like, 'You're a sexy pirate, Mommy,' I'm like, 'What do you known about a sexy pirate?' "

Asked about her plan to celebrate her 50th birthday in August next year, the former "Extant" star revealed, "I want it to come and go as fast as it can. I'm going to take my five best girlfriends to a Caribbean island, we're going to have a cleansing, we're going to jump in the ocean butt-naked and have a spiritual moment and bond and connect as women. That's how I'm going to blow it out with my girls, with my best, closest, dearest friends... I love my woman ships."

At the same event, Halle also talked about her experience with domestic abuse in the past. "I saw my mother battered and beaten many years of my life and I felt helpless," she said. "It seems like I've overcome it, but I really haven't. In the quiet of my mind, I still struggle. So while I'm helping these women, I'm helping myself through it, too. And that's largely why I'm here."

Halle herself had opened up in 1996 about becoming a victim of domestic violence, when her then boyfriend hit her so hard that it caused a permanent damage to her left ear. Her ex-husband David Justice recently slammed the actress for making her look bad and not clearing up rumor that he's the former boyfriend who hit her.

David later retracted his statement about Halle, writing on Twitter, "I just want to thank Halle for finally squashing all of the rumors in the past, that I had physically abused her, causing the hearing loss." Halle didn't make a public statement about David's claims, but it's unknown if she personally contacted him regarding the matter.
