AceShowbiz - Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter on Wednesday, Oct. 28, to make a sad announcement to his fans that his father James "Jim" Reynolds has passed away. "RIP Pops. James C. Reynolds. 1941-2015," read his tweet. The 39-year-old actor, moreover, added a link to Michael J. Fox's website which aids Parkinson's disease research. "If possible, please donate/support," he added.
Jim had been suffering from Parkinson's disease since 1993. Back in 2008, Reynolds wrote a lengthy essay for the Huffington Post about his father's battle with the disease.

"I've watched my father - a strong and proud person who successfully raised 4 arguably insane children - slowly, cruelly stripped of his independence. His golden years robbed without explanation. It quite obviously sucks. Witnessing my dad suffer over the years galvanized my need to step up," he wrote at that time. He then detailed on the essay about meeting Michael J. Fox, who also has Parkinson's, and agreed to run the New York City Marathon for Fox's foundation. He raised money for the cause and finished the race in 3 hours, 50 minutes. He subsequently becomes a board member for the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
