Jeremy Renner Doesn't Think Helping Female Co-Stars Get Equal Pay Is His Job

'That's not my job,' Jeremy says when he's asked whether or not he will help his female co-stars negotiate salaries on future projects.

AceShowbiz - Jeremy Renner doesn't want to get involved in helping his female co-stars negotiate salaries following Jennifer Lawrence's essay about gender-based wage gap in Hollywood. The "Avengers: Age of Ultron" actor told Business Insider that it wasn't his job.

"That's not my job," Jeremy told the publication. The 44-year-old actor made it clear that he made such statement because he's not well-versed in that area. "I don't know contracts and money and all that sort of stuff. I'm a performer and I know human behavior."

Later on, Jeremy explained that he would ask other people who are more capable of dealing with that stuff than him to handle it. "When it comes to that sort of stuff I let other people deal with that," he added. "I do what I'm good at, that's what I focus on." The publication noted that actors and actresses were rarely involved in the negotiating process. They left the deals to agents, managers and lawyers.

Jennifer previously revealed in her essay titled "Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?" that she was paid significantly less than her male co-stars in "American Hustle". Her essay was responded positively by her male co-star Bradley Cooper. He said that he also supported equal pay in Hollywood.

Earlier this month, Bradley told Reuters that he had begun teaming up with female co-stars to negotiate salaries before any film he's interested in working on goes into production. "I don't know where it's changing otherwise but that's something that I could do," the actor said. "Usually you don't talk about the financial stuff, you have people. But you know what? It's time to start doing that."
