New 'Resident Evil' Animated Movie Planned for 2017

The third CG animation film of the sci-fi franchise will be produced by Marza Animation Planet Inc. of Sega.

AceShowbiz - "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" won't be the last installment of the franchise. A new animated film of the the sci-fi, action film series is in the works for a 2017 release. Marza Animation Planet Inc. of Sega Sammy Group announced the project on Thursday, October 15.

The new CG animated-film will be penned by Makoto Fukami and directed by Takanori Tsujimoto. Takashi Shimizu is attached as an executive producer, with Hiroyuki Kobayashi as executive supervisor.

"Resident Evil CG 3" (working title) will be the third feature-length CGI film in the series. The first two "Resident Evil" animations, "Resident Evil: Degeneration" (2008) and "Resident Evil: Damnation" (2012), were produced by Japanese animation house Digital Frontier.

The sixth and last live-action film titled "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" is currently in production in Cape Town, South Africa. Milla Jovovich returns as the main heroine Alice, while her husband Paul W.S. Anderson is back as the helmer. The movie is set to arrive on January 27, 2017 in theaters across the States.
