The Hispanic advocacy groups say that allowing the Republican presidential candidate to host 'Saturday Night Live' will legitimize and validate his anti-Latino comments.

AceShowbiz - A coalition of Hispanic advocacy groups demands NBC to call off Donald Trump's hosting gig on "Saturday Night Live". They wrote a public letter to NBC Universal CEO Stephen Burke and "SNL" executive producer Lorne Michaels. A petition on MoveOn.org has also been launched to halt the real estate mogul's appearance on the sketch show.

"Donald Trump has yet to apologize for his bigoted comments about Mexican immigrants," they said. "Allowing Trump to host SNL will legitimize and validate his anti-Latino comments." They added, "We are appalled that you would enable Trump's hateful speech for nothing less than a ratings ploy and ask that you rescind the SNL invitation."

In addition, hispanic advocacy organization National Council of La Raza (NCLR) called Trump's "SNL" gig a "slap in the face" to NBC's Latino viewers. "This is not about lacking a sense of humor. Everyone knows that SNL is not just a comedy show," NCLR President and CEO Janet Murguia said. "For the last 40 years, it has become a highly coveted platform for candidates from political parties who are looking to reach and connect with the American public."

"It is appalling, then, [for] a show with that history and that role to showcase a man whose campaign has been built on bigotry and demagoguery for the sake of buzz and ratings," she added.

Donald Trump is scheduled to host "SNL" on November 7 with Sia Furler as a musical guest. It marks the second appearance on the show for both of them. The republican presidential candidate previously hosted "SNL" in 2004 and the "Chandelier" hitmaker first performed on the show in January this year. If Trump appears on "SNL", NBC has to give other presidential contenders "equal time" due to federal rule.
