AceShowbiz - Jim Carrey's ex-girlfriend Cathriona White was married to another man when she died. The information about her marital status was revealed by an official at the L.A. County Medical Examiner's office who told The Hollywood Reporter that Cathriona's body would be released to her husband for repatriation to Ireland.
"She had a husband, we have a husband as [her] next of kin," said the official, "We're not releasing any more information on next of kin, but we do have her as married." The news was then confirmed by a source close to Jim who said that Cathriona was married but separated from her husband. The source explained that she was planning to file for divorce in December.
"There is no way that Jim would have taken her out to public places if he thought she was married," said another source close to Jim's family, "As far as Jim was concerned, Cat was separated from her husband and was going to start divorce proceedings in December. When people are separated they date or do whatever they need to do."
Details regarding the identity of Cathriona's husband, the length of their marriage, where they got married and when they separated remain unclear. On another note, The Medical Examiner's office concluded the autopsy on the late makeup artist on Sunday, October 4. The office then sent the results of a toxicological examination for analysis. Results are expected to be obtained in 12 weeks. "It came in as a suicide but we're not noting it as such yet until we can confirm what was in her system," said the Medical Examiner official.
Cathriona was found dead on September 28. Following her death, Jim said in a statement, "I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona.... My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."
