Movie

Lionsgate has revealed a shortlist for a female lead in the adventure movie which includes the Irish actress and other international actresses.

AceShowbiz - Lionsgate seems to be busy hiring the cast of the upcoming "Robin Hood: Origins". Deadline brings words that the studio has revealed a shorlist for the movie's female lead. The chosen actress will star opposite the newly-confirmed actor Taron Egerton.

The shortlist includes Irish actress Eve Hewson ("The Knick"), Dutch actress Gaite Jansen ("Supernova"), Australian actress Lucy Fry ("Vampire Academy) and British actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw ("Belle"). The movie is said to mainly include international actors because director Otto Bathurst ("The Peaky Blinders") and Lionsgate want to take an "authentic approach." No offer has been made to any of the actresses just yet, but the movie is a priority for the studio.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson, Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold will produce the movie which is described as a gritty, revisionist take on the Robin Hood legend. Joby Harold ("Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur") penned the screenplay.

Additionally, the site revealed the plot of "Robin Hood: Origins". It is said to center on the heroic outlaw who "returns from fighting in The Crusades and finds that Sherwood Forest is rife with corruption and evil. He forms a band of outlaws and they take matters into their own hands." The official release date has yet to be announced, but the movie is expected to arrive in North America in 2017.
