The Monster ringleader will be honored in an annual ceremony taking place on December 11 in New York.

AceShowbiz - Lady GaGa is picked as the recipient for Woman of the Year title by Billboard this year. The Mother Monster is scheduled to be feted in a ceremony which will take place on December 11 at Cipriani Midtown in New York and air December 18 on Lifetime.

The singer is described as "an extraordinary artist, emblematic of the strength, courage and fortitude." She succeeds Taylor Swift who got the honor for the second time last year after her 2011 recognition. Beyonce Knowles, Pink, and Katy Perry were also among the past honorees.

Although GaGa hasn't released a new solo album since her 2013 LP "Artpop", she has collaborated with Tony Bennett on a Grammy-winning jazz album "Cheek to Cheek". She also teamed up with Diane Warren on "Til It Happens to You", a soundtrack for a documentary about campus rape. On top of that, she will soon play a leading lady on FX's much-awaited series "American Horror Story: Hotel".

"Billboard's Woman of the Year has always represented the finest in music, and the anointing of a key influential figure who drove the conversation for that year. No one embodies that more than Lady Gaga in 2015," says Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media's entertainment group, which consists of Billboard and THR.

"From her show-stopping performance at the Oscars, to her co-headlining tour, to her philanthropic outreach and foundation promoting youth wellbeing and empowerment, to her new role as TV star, there is no woman dominating popular culture tastes and its evolution as much as she is today. What a force."
