The show's exec producer says Mr. Burns' assistant, which is long rumored to be a gay, will finally reveal he's gay during two episodes of this season.

AceShowbiz - Smithers is going to come out as a gay in upcoming episode of "The Simpsons". Exec producer Al Jean told TVLine that Smithers' sexuality would be discussed in two episodes during season 27 which premiered on Sunday, September 27.

Al explained, "In Springfield now, most people know [Smithers]'s gay, but obviously Burns doesn't. We deal with that in two episodes. We actually do a lot with Smithers this year; he gets fed up with Burns not appreciating him and considers his options."

Smithers has been hinting that he's gay and in love with Mr. Burns in dozen of episodes. He has a tattoo of their two faces with the words "Boss of My Heart" on his chest. In an episode set at a "do what you feel festival," Smithers tells his boss, "Sir, in the spirit of the festival and everything, I'd just like to say that I love you," before adding, "In those colors!" He then whispers to himself, "Oh, who am I kidding? The boathouse was the time!"

Smithers, who is a president of the Malibu Stacy dolls fan club, also famously kissed Mr. Burns in the lips, leading up to what most of Springfield thought was the apocalypse.
