The 'Martian' actor reveals that he said no to the first Daredevil movie before Ben Affleck decided to take the gig.

AceShowbiz - Matt Damon reveals that he almost played the Man Without Fear in the 2003 "Daredevil" movie which ended up starring Ben Affleck on the lead role. He now expresses his interest in playing superhero only if "The Dark Knight" helmer, Christopher Nolan, directs it.

The actor talks briefly to New York Daily News about Affleck's decision to do the movie, "I think he approached it the right way, which is, 'Can I make a great superhero movie?' rather than, 'Do I want to play a superhero?' I'd consider it if the right thing came along."

"For us it was always 'Daredevil' - that's the comic we read when we were kids," he adds. "But when that one came along (in 2003) I chickened out, because I couldn't tell. I hadn't seen the director (Mark Steven Johnson's) work and I didn't know. So I just said, 'No.' Ben was like, 'I gotta do it.' And the movie ended up doing very well, even though I don't think Ben was ultimately very proud of it."

Damon then reveals what or who will likely change his mind. "If Chris Nolan came up to me and said, 'I want to do Daredevil,' I would be in," he says. As for directing it himself since Nolan is currently busy, he jokes, "Just putting that out there."
