Emmys 2015: Jeffrey Tambor and Julia Louis-Dreyfus Are Best Comedy Actor and Actress

Tambor wins his first Emmy and adds another win for 'Transparent', while Louis-Dreyfus earns her third Emmy for her role on HBO's series 'Veep'.

AceShowbiz - After coming out as surprise winner at Golden Globe Awards earlier this year, Jeffrey Tambor has predictably won an Emmy for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series through his role on "Transparent". It marks his first Emmy following his previous five Emmy nominations.

"I've been given the opportunity to act because people's lives depend on it," Tambor said of playing Mort/Maura Pfefferman. "I'd like to dedicate this award to the transgender community. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for your stories. Thanks for letting us be part of the change."

His win added to "Transparent" victory that night. The Amazon series already bagged Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for Bradley Whitford's performance and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for Jill Soloway.

"Veep" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, meanwhile, once again took home the prize in Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, beating the likes of Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie"), Amy Poehler ("Parks and Recreation") and Amy Schumer ("Inside Amy Schumer"). It's her third Emmy for the HBO series and her fifth overall.

Following Tambor and Louis-Dreyfus' victories, Regina King was named Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series/Movie for her role on "American Crime". Bill Murray won the Supporting Actor in a Limited Series/Movie prize for his performance on Olive Kitteridge".

Murray's co-star and "Olive Kitteridge" lead actress Frances McDormand followed his win with her own in Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie category. She simply said in her acceptance speech, "Hi. We're all here because of the power of a story well told. Sometimes that's all you need. Thanks."

"Olive Kitteridge" also snatched the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie gong for Richard Jenkins. The HBO miniseries was additionally named Outstanding Miniseries and bagged Outstanding Writing in a Limited Series/Movie for Jane Anderson.

"The Voice" (Outstanding Reality Competition) was another winner that was already announced at the ceremony, which is currently airing live on FOX.
