Emily Blunt Sets Record Straight About 'Captain Marvel' Casting Rumors
Movie

The 'Into the Woods' actress, who was previously rumored to take lead role in the upcoming superheroine movie, says she has not 'heard anything about [it].'

AceShowbiz - Emily Blunt addresses rumors about her taking lead role in upcoming "Captain Marvel". When asked about rumors that she will likely be a candidate to star as Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel, the "Edge of Tomorrow" actress says, "My new anointing. No, I have not heard anything about Captain Marvel."

Emily then shares her opinion on why she and actresses like Charlize Theron and Rebecca Ferguson are being rumored for the superheroine movie. "I think it's because the list is very short, because we don't see women in these kind of roles," the "Sicario" actress explains, "So I think as soon as you do a role like that, like Charlize did or I did, or Rebecca's done."

"There's like four of us or something. And Jen Lawrence. So I feel like us four, we get talked about - and Angie, Angelina [Jolie]. So it's a list of like, four women who are going to be considered for those kind of roles," she continues, "So I think that's why the rumors happen, because they're like, 'who else? Surely not another girl can wield a gun,' you know what I mean? 'A woman doing push-ups? There's only one who can do that.' "

Produced by Kevin Feige with a script from Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve, "Captain Marvel" is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on November 2, 2018. Ava Duvernay was previously rumored to direct the project.
