Jennifer Lawrence and Francis Lawrence May Reteam for 'Red Sparrow'
Movie

The Oscar-winning actress could reunite with the 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay' director if both sign up for the espionage movie.

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Lawrence is circling "Red Sparrow", an adaptation of Jason Matthews' espionage novel that is being set up at 20th Century Fox. No deal is put in place just yet, but she is expected to reunite with Francis Lawrence, who directed her in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1" and "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2".

It was previously reported during the San Diego Comic-Con that director Lawrence was eying involvement in the action thriller. Deadline now reports that the filmmaker is close to signing a deal for the project, which once had David Fincher and Rooney Mara as potential helmer and female lead respectively.

"Red Sparrow" is set in contemporary Russia and centers on a state intelligence officer named Dominika Egorova who is assigned against her will to become a "Sparrow," a trained seductress in the service. During her first assignment, Dominika strikes up a relationship with her mark, a CIA officer named Nathaniel Nash, and in a charged atmosphere of trade craft, deception, and inevitably, a sexual attraction threatens their careers and the security of America's most valuable mole in Moscow.

Justin Haythe is tapped to rewrite a script by Eric Warren, while Steven Zaillian and Garrett Basch are on board as producers.

Jennifer Lawrence reprises her role as Katniss Everdeen in "Mockingjay, Part 2" which will head into theaters nationwide on November 20. She will also next been seen in "Joy" which reunites her with "American Hustle" director David O. Russell and co-star Bradley Cooper. She has signed up for "Passengers (2016)" which will feature Chris Pratt.
