Jane Birkin Reunites With Hermes, Settles Differences Over Croc Handbag
Celebrity

Actress Jane Birkin allows her name to be used as Hermes' crocodile handbag again after the company assures the highest standards in crocodile farming.

AceShowbiz - Jane Birkin has dropped her request to have Hermes remove her name from their famous handbag. The 68-year-old singer/actress previously demanded Hermes rename the bag after a PETA video uncovered the cruel crocodile farming and slaughtering practices to get the animal's skin from the company's supplier in Texas.

"Jane Birkin has advised us that she is satisfied by the measures taken by Hermes," the Paris-based company says in statement on Friday, September 11. "Hermes reasserts its commitment to implement best practice in the farming of crocodiles," the company adds. "This is in strictest compliance with international regulations."

Hermes says that they discovered an "isolated irregularity" in the slaughter process at the Texas farm after conducting an audit. They warned the farm that they would cut ties should any further irregularities be found.
