Ronda Rousey Tapped for 'Road House' Remake

The first female UFC champion is set to step into the role played by the late Patrick Swayze in the original 1989 movie.

AceShowbiz - Ronda Rousey is confirmed to headline MGM's reboot of the 1989 cult classic "Road House". She is set to play the lead role made famous by Patrick Swayze. In the original film, he portrayed a bouncer who protects a small town in Missouri from a corrupt businessman

According to Variety, the UFC champion has reached out to Lisa Niemi to ask for her blessing, which the late actor's widow gladly gave. Production is expected to begin in early 2016 following Rousey's next fight against Holly Holm on November 14. The studio is currently meeting with screenwriters.

"It is a great honor to play a part in celebrating the life of a man that inspired so many. I couldn't be more grateful to have this opportunity to pay respect to the beloved Patrick Swayze� I promise to work incessantly to make sure this project is a tribute his family and fans can be proud of," she said.

Ronda Rousey has appeared on "The Expendables 3", "Entourage", and "Furious 7". She is now attached to star in her own biopic "My Fight/Your Fight" at Paramount, "The Athena Project" at Warner Bros., and action thriller "Mile 22" to be directed by Peter Berg.
