The director uploaded a photo on Twitter which could be an indication that he had begun preparation for the sci-fi movie.

AceShowbiz - While the U.S. release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is still a couple of months away, Lucasfilm has been teasing fans with several details of "Star Wars" subsequent sequels and spin-offs. The latest update comes from director Colin Trevorrow who hints that he has already begun preparations for "Star Wars Episode IX".

The "Jurassic World" director posted a photo on Twitter which captures a Lucasfilm, LTD notebook on a table. He presumably prepared to work on the ninth episode of "Star Wars" movie series as he captioned the photo with "Back to school. #IX."

Alan Horn, the chairman of the Walt Disney Studios, announced that Trevorrow would helm "Episode IX" at Disney D23 Expo in August. Trevorrow will follow director Rian Johnson, who is helming "Star Wars Episode VIII". Back in March, J.J. Abrams was rumored to be the director of "Episode IX", but he later denied the rumor.

Kathleen Kennedy, Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg will produce the movie. Kasdan and Kinberg also team up to pen the script. "Star Wars Episode IX" is expected to be released in U.S. theaters in 2019.
