The 'Deadwood' alum will reportedly play a character who is involved with an outlaw band mentioned in previously released casting call.

AceShowbiz - Ever since Ian McShane was revealed to join the cast for "Game of Thrones" season 6, speculations have been floating around on internet about his role. He was previously linked to the role of Randyll Tarly or Euron Greyjoy, but Pilou Asbaek is eventually cast to play the latter character.

Now, alleged details about McShane's character have surfaced. According to fan site Watchers on the Wall, the 72-year-old British actor won't play Randyll Tarly, but he will portray a character who has a scene with an outlaw band mentioned in the casting call that was released shortly after season 5 wrapped up.

McShane's role reportedly won't have a lot of screentime, but he has an important part in the storyline. It's suggested that he could play Lachlan, the outlaw band leader, though it should be noted that nothing has been confirmed yet regarding McShane's role.

McShane and Asbaek are not the only new additions to the cast. Max von Sydow has been tapped to replace Struan Rodger as the Three-Eyed Raven, Freddie Stroma is set to play Dickon Tarly, and most recently Richard E. Grant was cast in a mystery role.

The hit medieval drama will return for a new season in 2016 on HBO.
