Movie

The 'Prometheus' actor is in negotiations to star in the crime drama about a brilliant detective who tracks down Norway's first official serial killer.

AceShowbiz - Michael Fassbender is in talks to star in "The Snowman", the adaptation of a crime novel by Norwegian writer Jo Nesbo, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Fassbender will team up with "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" helmer Tomas Alfredson, who also directed "Let the Right One In (2008)".

Being developed by Universal and Working Title, the movie centers on the story of Harry Hole, a detective who has been featured in ten of Nesbo's novels. He is described as a classic loose cannon in the police force because of his drinking problem and his unorthodox methods of solving cases.

In "The Snowman", Hole investigates the disappearance of a woman whose pink scarf is found wrapped around a snowman that mysteriously appeared in the front yard. As he gets involved deeper in the investigation, he realizes that he may be dealing with Norway's first official serial killer.

Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner (Working Title) will produce. When Working Title first optioned the book years ago, it was planned to be a crime franchise. Martin Scorsese was considered to direct the movie before Alfredson is officially attached to helm. "The Snowman" doesn't have an official release date just yet, but it is expected to arrive in the U.S. in 2016.

Fassbender will next be seen in "Steve Jobs" and "MacBeth". He is still filming video game adaptation "Assassin's Creed" and recently wrapped production on "X-Men: Apocalypse".
