Taylor Swift Tops Vanity Fair's 'Powers That Be' List
Celebrity

The 'Wildest Dreams' singer is among the 2015 visionary people, beating Hillary Clinton, Kanye West, Beyonce Knowles, and Jay-Z.

AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift lands at No. 1 spot on Vanity Fair's "Powers That Be" list that contains "visionary executives and entertainers who have consolidated their spheres of influence while continuing to affect the culture in new ways." She beats Disney's chief Bob Iger who follows her at the second spot and presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton who sits at the ninth place.

"Swift isn't merely the world's favorite pop star, putting up sales numbers that are nearly unfathomable in the post-Napster age," the magazine says, "she is also using her platform to make giant companies conform to her will. After pulling her catalogue off Spotify last year, Swift wrote an open letter to Apple asking it to pay artists during the free-trial period of its new music service. She posted the note on Tumblr on a Sunday and the company complied within hours."

Kim Kardashian joins her husband, Kanye West, at No. 12 while Beyonce Knowles & Jay-Z share No. 21. Other stars on the list are NBA star LeBron James, directors J.J. Abrams & Lee Daniels, and actor Bradley Cooper.

A companion to the "Powers That Be" is a group of "The Disrupters". Together, those two groups become what Vanity Fair calls the 2015 "New Establishment." Facebook's founder Mark Zuckerberg tops The Disrupters which are filled with "innovators who have defined the year in terms of how we interact, how we work and play, and what cultural products we consume and how." Other famous names on the list are Amy Schumer, Jessica Alba, Jared Leto, and John Oliver.
