Based on the characters in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel, 'Brides' will be 'a sexy reimagining of Dracula as a family drama' with three 'strong diverse female leads.'

AceShowbiz - The Brides of Dracula are coming to NBC. They are seductive female vampires who live with Count Dracula in his Transylvania castle in the original story, but the upcoming TV adaptation is expected to take place in a modern-day New York City.

Deadline learns that the Peacock has given a pilot production commitment to the TV project based on the characters in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel. Simply dubbed "Brides", the gothic soap drama is written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa ("Glee") and produced by Greg Berlanti ("Arrow", "The Flash").

The new show is described as "a sexy reimagining of Dracula as a family drama with a trio of strong, diverse female leads, a show about empowered women and the things they do to maintain wealth, prestige, legacy - and their non-traditional family."
