'Star Trek Beyond' Cast Pay Tribute to Leonard Nimoy in Charity Video

Zachary Quinto narrates the latest charity video which is honoring the veteran actor who becomes a big inspiration for the cast and artists.

AceShowbiz - Entering the last week of Omaze "Star Trek Beyond" charity campaign, the cast members of the film pay tribute to Leonard Nimoy, the actor who originated Spock, in a charity video. The one-minute video highlights a charity cause which Nimoy was passionate about, the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Zachary Quinto, who portrays a younger version of Spock in the "Star Trek" films, hosts the video which shows behind-the-scenes footage featuring Nimoy on the set of recent "Star Trek" films. "Leonard was an actor, champion of the arts and the true inspiration to so many. Through his legendary portrayal Spock, he influenced countless scientists and artist, myself and the rest of the cast included," Quinto says, paying tribute to Nimoy. The video ends with Chris Pine, John Cho, Idris Elba, Simon Pegg and other cast members making the iconic "Live Long and Prosper" salute.

The "To Boldly Go" champaign is aimed at giving donation to some organizations including Brave Beginnings, Camp Sunshine, Direct Relief, Heaven Homes, KidsCan, Koreatown Youth & Community Center, Make-A-Wish, Time Is Precious and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. By donating $10, the participant will also get a chance to win a walk-on role in the movie. The lucky winner will get exclusive behind-the-scenes visits and will be able to take a tour on the ship along with the film stars.

"Star Trek Beyond" will follow the Enterprise crew on their five-year mission. Justin Lin directs the movie while the script is written by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung. The sci-fi adventure movie is slated for a release in U.S. theaters on July 8, 2016.
