'Star Trek Beyond' Set Photos Reveal New Costumes and New Alien
Movie

The new photos from the set of the sci-fi movie give a look at new Starfleet uniforms and a white-skin alien played by Sofia Boutella.

AceShowbiz - Some photos and a video from the set of "Star Trek Beyond" have surfaced online. The photos and video revealed a new character played by Sofia Boutella and new Starfleet uniforms. The video was immediately blocked by Paramount, but fans could still get a lot of details from the photos.

The video shows Chris Pine's Kirk and Boutella's character emerging from a damaged spaceship. They used particular device before Scotty (Simon Pegg) and Chekov (Anton Yelchin) find a way out.

Pine and Chekov wore brand new Starfleet uniforms which never appeared in any "Star Trek" movies. They wore blue jacket with yellow trim on both shoulders and a pair of leather boots along with knee-pads. The uniform seemingly indicated that they might embark on an away mission. Meanwhile, Pegg sported a red uniform which looks quite similar to the one he wore in earlier films.

Another major revelation is Boutella's character. She represents an entirely new alien species which doesn't seem to belong to any existing Star Trek races. The alien has white skin, white hair, and black facial markings. Based on the costume of the alien, it seems like she is ready to combat. Although Boutella's exact role is still unclear, there has been a speculation that she is the Enterprise's ally.

Director Justin Lin previously teased that the upcoming movie might feature some new things, "What we experienced in the TV show hasn't been touched on yet. That sets up an opportunity for exploration and the deeper you go, the more you are examining humanity. Those are the things that I absorbed as a kid and hope to tap into."

"Star Trek Beyond" also stars Zachary Quinto (Spock), Zoe Saldana (Uhura), Karl Urban (Dr. McCoy), John Cho (Sulu) and Idris Elba as the movie's new bad guy. It is slated to be released in the U.S. on July 8, 2016.
