The 'Sin City' actor is joining Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne in the movie adaptation of a French science-fiction graphic novel.

AceShowbiz - Clive Owen is set to star in upcoming Luc Besson's sci-fi saga "Valerian". The 50-year-old actor is joining Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne in the movie which is adapted from a French science-fiction graphic novel.

Clive will play Commander Arun Filitt, Dane will star as the time travelling Valerian while Cara will portray Valerian's sidekick Laureline. According to Deadline, the movie production will begin early next year for a 2017 release.

Luc showed the storyboard of the project to reporters backstage during Comic Con. According to the site, "the visuals conveyed a futuristic world with these amazing creatures and vistas that looked like "Star Wars" meets "Blade Runner" meets Besson's "The Fifth Element". There are only five major human characters and dozens of crazy-looking creatures, and we hear he's already clearing space in his Paris studio because he's going to need all the soundstages."

Luc announced his "Valerian" project on Twitter back in May, writing, "My first tweet ever! Let's share a real news! My next film is a big sci-fi: #Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Starring @danedehaan & @Caradelevingne. Shooting in December. In theaters 2017."

He later added on Facebook, "I have around 800 days of work ahead of me, plenty of time to be discouraged or feel lonely, so I'm counting on your support. I will try to share my adventure with you as much as I can. So... I go back to work, talk to you soon."
