The theme park attraction had been Disney's slow-moving project which now has the bulky actor attached to star.

AceShowbiz - Another theme park attraction is officially being made into a movie. Disney is moving forward with their plan to develop a film based on safari ride "Jungle Cruise", hiring actor Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to star.

Plot details are still kept under wrap but it would definitely be a period piece. Glenn Ficarra will work together with his "Crazy Stupid Love." co-director John Requa to pen the script. However, the "Focus" directors are not yet attached to helm.

"[Disney production president] Sean Bailey and Disney have been awesome partners and now the fun part begins," Johnson told THR. "We're starting to put in the work with Requa and Ficarra and our creative team. Fired up about this one. Here we go."

"Jungle Cruise" is Disney's long-gestating project with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen once set to star. The mouse house had been trying to develop another movie based on a theme park attraction since the success of "The Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise. The studio is already developing "The Haunted Mansion (2016)" with Ryan Gosling attached to star.

Johnson himself is a hot commodity on Hollywood. He has just completed the filming of "Central Intelligence", is providing voice for animated film "Moana" and will shoot "Baywatch" early next year.
