The singer says the song from 2010's 'Speak Now' has taken on new meaning for her since she became a godmother to Jaime King's newborn Leo Thames.

AceShowbiz - Taylor Swift briefly returned to her country roots at her "1989" show in Santa Clara, California over the weekend. During the concert, the 25-year-old pop superstar unexpectedly added "Never Grow Up" from her 2010 album "Speak Now" to her setlist and dedicated the song to her godson, pal Jaime King's newborn Leo Thames.

Before performing the track, Swift told the crowd that "Never Grow Up" had taken on new meaning for her since she became a godmother. "I wrote it when I was like 18 or 19, but my friend just had a baby and she made me godmother of it and I was holding this little baby the other night, and I was just thinking differently," she said.

"When you're holding onto something that's so innocent and so perfect and has no idea what's coming for it with the world. The world is going to throw so many things at you as we grow up," she continued before playing her guitar as she launched into an acoustic rendition of the song.

Leo Thames is the second child for King and his husband Kyle Newman. Swift met her godson for the first time around three weeks ago. At that time, she posted on Instagram a photo of her holding the baby and proudly said in the caption, "Meeting my boy." She shared another picture of the baby's tiny hand holding her finger. She wrote, "Your little hand's wrapped around my finger and it's so quiet in the world tonight."

Baby Leo and his mother King weren't at the concert when Swift dedicated her "Never Grow Up" performance to him, but the 36-year-old actress was clearly excited when she found out about it online. "This is so beautiful Tay - Leo Thames is so blessed," she tweeted.
