'Scooby-Doo' Animated Movie in the Works at Warner Bros. for 2018 Release

To be directed by Tony Cervone, the animated reboot is officially in the works at Warner Bros. and will be released in the U.S. on September 21, 2018.

AceShowbiz - There have been rumblings that Warner Bros. was trying to make a new big-screen version of "Scooby-Doo", but there was no detail provided. Recent article from TheWrap said that the studio would release an animated "Scooby Doo" movie on September 21, 2018, which means that the movie is officially in the works.

The new "Scooby-Doo" movie will be a Warner Bros. presentation under the Warner Animation Group banner. Charles Roven and Richard Suckle, who produced Warner Bros.' live-action films "Scooby-Doo" and "Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed", will produce the upcoming film alongside Allison Abbate ("The Fantastic Mr. Fox", "Corpse Bride" and "Frankenweenie").

Meanwhile, Dan Povenmire ("Phineas and Ferb") will serve as an executive producer. "Space Jam" helmer Tony Cervone will direct the currently-untitled film with the script penned by Matt Lieberman ("Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief").

The announcement was made by Warner Bros. executive Greg Silverman as well as three other excutives. "Like countless fans, I have always loved the Hanna-Barbera cast of characters. As one of their most famous brand ambassadors, Scooby-Doo will take the lead in re-introducing this pantheon of enduringly popular animated stars on a grand scale with an exciting new movie," Silverman said.

While details of the new "Scooby-Doo" movie are still scarce, there is another rumor that Warner Bros. may be interested in creating a sort of Hanna-Barbera big-screen universe and put several characters from various universe in a feature film. However, nothing is set in stone for the latter project.
