AceShowbiz - Movie selections for the upcoming 40th annual Toronto International Film Festival have been revealed. They include Ridley Scott's sci-fier "The Martian" starring Matt Damon, Roland Emmerich's drama "Stonewall" about the 1969 riot in the Greenwich Village, and Scott Cooper's true-story gangster film "Black Mass" led by Johnny Depp.

The annual film festival will be held in September. Jean-Marc Vallee's drama "Demolition" that pairs up Jake Gyllenhaal with Naomi Watts will be screened during the opening night on September 10. The event will take place until September 20.

"Vallee has a tradition of presenting strong characters who are on journeys to self-discovery and redemption, and is the only filmmaker in our history to present both an opening and a closing night film at the Festival," said Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director of TIFF.

The director added in a statement, "This film tells the story of a man who deals with loss in unexpected ways, and is brought to life on screen through sensitive and commanding performances by Gyllenhaal, Watts, Cooper and newcomer [Judah] Lewis."
