The music label owned by Simon Cowell says the former One Direction member is still with them.

AceShowbiz - Contrary to circulating rumors, Zayn Malik is not leaving Syco Music. The Sun reported on Thursday, July 16 that Simon Cowell ditched the former One Direction member from Syco label. The site wrote, "IN March this year ZAYN MALIK ditched his ONE DIRECTION bandmates. Now SIMON COWELL is returning the favour - by dropping the heart-throb from his Syco label just as Zayn's solo career kicks off."

According to the site, the judge of "The X Factor" made the decision "out of loyalty to the remaining members of 1D." An alleged music source told the site, "It's a big move for Simon because Zayn could have a very successful solo career but his priority absolutely remains the band and this is a big statement on his part."

The site was allegedly told that the company would move Zayn to another label within Sony for his solo career. A Syco source said, "Simon has set up a deal that suits Zayn and One Direction. Zayn will stay in the Sony family under a different label and it's totally with Simon Cowell's blessing. It was just felt to be a bit difficult to have 1D and Zayn on the same label - and everyone felt it was better for him to be somewhere different."

"Since leaving the band, Zayn has changed management and lawyers so it would kind of make sense for him to work with a new label team. But having said that, he still gets on great with Simon," the second source added, "And his girlfriend Perrie Edwards is having huge success with Little Mix with Syco. And, at the moment, while things are being finalised, Zayn is still signed to Syco."

According to the site, Zayn's solo debut was being overseen by Turn First Artist who looks after careers of Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea and Ellie Goulding.

A spokesperson for Syco Music later denied the reports, telling Entertainment Weekly, "Zayn is still with Syco."
