Palmer compares Ryan Murphy's upcoming horror-comedy anthology to his 'American Horror Story' as saying, 'I think that he is keeping that same, heightened, extreme grounded-ness.'

AceShowbiz - Keke Palmer teased what "Scream Queens" would be like ahead of its fall premiere. While the show will air on broadcast network FOX, it apparently doesn't stop co-creator Ryan Murphy from making it as brutal as his FX series "American Horror Story".

"Usually he's on FX: Is he still gonna be able to go as brutal as he has been before now that it's on FOX?" Palmer told EW after her Essence Festival Empowerment talk in New Orleans on Saturday, July 4. "Actually, he is."

She added, "I think that he is keeping that same, heightened, extreme grounded-ness. How he does it, I have no idea. But that is very much so a part of 'Scream Queens'. And also, the comedy. He finds the balance in light of the dark. It's fun to play."

A fan of "AHS" since the first season, she praised Murphy, "He's so creative!" Agreeing with people who called him a genius, she went on gushing, "This guy is not about playing by the rules. He's about switching it up."

Speaking to PEOPLE on the same occasion, Palmer said of working with Emma Roberts, Ariana Grande, Lea Michele and Abigail Breslin on "Scream Queens", "It feels like we're our own little sorority house. We have seven, eight of us, and we all have so many different personalities."

Also supported by Jamie Lee Curtis, Oliver Hudson, Skyler Samuels, Nasim Pedrad and Nick Jonas, the first season of "Scream Queens" will center on a college campus rocked by several murders. It is set to debut Tuesday, September 22 on FOX.
