Filling in as the host of local talk show 'Only in Monroe', he welcomes the Michigan rapper as a special guest and talks about his career.

AceShowbiz - Stephen Colbert has not begun hosting CBS' "Late Show" yet, so he stopped in Monroe, Michigan on Wednesday, July 1 and made an appearance on local public-access television station Mpact. He filled in as the host of "Only in Monroe".

The 51-year-old comedian first welcomed the show's regular moderators, Michelle Bowman and Kaye Lani Rae Rafko Wilson, for a tongue-in-cheek interview. His next guest was "a local Michigander who is making a name for himself in the competitive world of music, Marshall Mathers" a.k.a. Eminem.

During the 15-minute interview with Eminem, Colbert asked the rapper about his career and promoted "Southpaw", a sports movie which Eminem contributed to the soundtrack. "Are you political? A lot of rap is political and some of it is good booty rhymes," Colbert asked Eminem. "Are you more political or just booty rhymes?" The rapper responded, "In the middle. Right in the crack, probably."

Things got a bit tense when Colbert asked the "Rap God" hitmaker, "Are you about to go? Were we about to go?" Eminem replied, "Not unless you wanted to?" The comedian responded, "I don't want to, but I won't back down. You come into my house and you flex up on me and you expect me to back down? You are sadly mistaken." The future "Late Show" host then apologized, "I'm sorry, I was fronting. I want to apologize."

Eminem also offered to perform on the show, but Colbert said they didn't have time for that. The Grammy winner then closed the show by reading off the list of Monroe's calendar of events.

Eminem took to his Facebook to share a photo from his interview with Colbert. "I was there, on Monroe public access television, with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," so he captioned the image.
