'Creed' First Trailer: Sylvester Stallone's Rocky Trains New Fighter
Movie

Rocky Balboa (Stallone) is in the corner as a trainer for the son of his old foe-turned-friend Apollo Creed who was dead in a match.

AceShowbiz - The first trailer of "Rocky" spin-off "Creed" has arrived. The nearly-3-minute trailer highlights the story of a young boxer who is trained by his father's enemy-turned-friend.

Unlike the previous installments of "Rocky" movie series, the upcoming movie doesn't feature Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) fighting in the ring, but it sees him as a trainer for his old foe's son Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan).

The trailer opens with Johnson, whose dad died in the ring, does hard exercise as a boxer. "Let me fight my whole life. It's not a choice for me," Johnson says. He goes to Philadelphia, the site of his father's (Apollo Creed) legendary match, to meet Rocky and ask him to train him to be a champion.

There is a callback to previous films in the franchise. When Johnson is running around Philadelphia in a black beanie and grey sweats, he recalls his father's message, "A great father once said, 'It ain't about how hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward.' " The trailer also briefly introduces Tessa Thompson as Johnson's love interest.

Jordan and Stallone lead the cast which also includes Phylicia Rashad, Tony Bellew and Andre Ward. Ryan Coogler serves behind the lens and also wrote the script with Aaron Covington. The movie is slated for a release in the U.S. on November 25.
